Story: Year Review

“If it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have no luck at all.”
—Albert King, ‘Born Under A Bad Sign’

"You never know what worse luck your bad luck has saved you from."
—Cormac McCarthy

It's been quite a year. And while the calendar changing from one year to the next is arbitrary, one orbit around the sun is a sufficient amount of time to evaluate and reflect on our lives and our life's direction. Instead of focusing on what was 'good' or 'bad,' focus on which path you find yourself on and if you want to continue or try to change it.

Setting goals and attaining them are a great way to achieve success in all aspects of life. Remember that for every Grammy winner, many others followed the same goal oriented steps and fell short. If the goal is the prize, the only prize, you'll feel satisfied with your life only when you achieve it. That feeling lasts until your brain asks, 'what's next?' If you want to play music, play music. If you play music to become a star, then you'll only be happy when other people decide to treat you like a star.
One non-goal oriented way to think about your life is to reflect on your 'strong' experiences of the past year. Take note of the ones that stand out, both the strongest positive and negative ones.

Fill your calendar with as many of the strong positives as you can. Call friends, make plans to meet, and prepay for activities like music lessons or the gym. These first steps will fill your time with activities that you perceive as positive, plus a financial commitment will make it more likely you follow through.

Next, remove the negative. Make sure you're focused on filling the newly created spaces with positives. Guard against filling the voids you just created with BS and 'feel good' noise.

This is one small step to getting closer to a way of life that gives you positive vibes and away from only feeling good about yourself when you achieve your goals. Let's hope the inclusion of more positive things in each of our lives will increase the positive vibes for all of us in 2025.

Bottom Line: We thank you for your business and wish you a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2025!
