Artist: Bernard Grobman
Bernard Grobman produced the new Spinners album, Full Circle, which is notably the final album from the last original member of the group, Henry Fambrough. Henry died this year in February, aged 85, and did not get to see the release of the new Spinners album. Bernard is long time user of Pickboy picks.
Bernard Grobman wrote 10 new tracks, including two new singles “Easy on Me” and “After Hours." “Easy on Me," lead vocals by Fambrough, is a classic Spinners love ballad, while “After Hours,” with its hip, rocking dance pace, engages with five part vocal harmony and intermixed lead vocals, the ultimate Spinners sound.
We had the opportunity to interview Bernard and you can watch the episode of our podcast here. Bernard talks about producing and writing the album, Full Circle, what it was like working with The Spinners, how he broke into the music business, and his take on the state of the industry, and much more.

Story: Work/Life Balance
"When we are really honest with ourselves we must admit our lives are all that really belong to us. So it is how we use our lives that determines the kind of people we are." -Cesar Chavez
Time feels to go by much faster than we like to admit to ourselves. We all like to think we have a good balance between work and life, but often times we focus on our work and work related goals at the expense of family, friends, health, and our own personal ambitions. Work can be a very rewarding part of our lives, but putting too much focus there curtails the amount of time we have left for the other rewarding aspects of our lives.
Lately, I've been giving myself constraints to help me be more effective and productive. For example, I'm trying to limit my workouts to 30 minutes. That forces me to answer the question, "what's the best workout for me today in 30 or less minutes?" Same with music. What can I work on that will help me improve most in the least amount of time? And the same with work. What's the most important and effective use of my time today? This helps me stop working when the work day is over knowing that I've tried to make the most of my work day.
Try visualizing your life and how it would compare to the image. Is there balance in way you divide your day and spend your time? Question where the fulcrum lies, and if you think you can achieve more balance by moving it in one direction or the other, then try it.
Bottom Line: Work is only a means to provide income for the life you want, and only you can choose what to do with it and what kind of person you will be.
