BIO :

Born in Nashville Tennessee, Ned started playing ukelele at age 11 and got his first guitar at 15. At 16, Ned got his first classical guitar and gave his first professional performance as a guitarist.

Ned made waves in 2000 with the groundbreaking release, An Introduction to Fretless Guitar. That album, along with successful albums Circus Liquor (2003), iStole (2004), Middle of the Middle (2007), and Afraid4U (2010) led to his widespread success in Europe, while also kick-starting the beginning of a loyal fan following in the U.S.

His touring history includes concerts performed in the United States, Canada, England, Ireland, Mexico, South East Asia, Europe, and Australia.

In 2003, Ned entered and won the North American Rock Guitar Competition, and in 2004 PBS Television broadcast a documentary covering Ned's appearance in the contest called "Driven To Play" in the US and Canada.

Ned's Gear

Ned began a second creative endeavor in 2014 with musician Joe Satriani, co-founding Satchtoons LLC, an animated content company that focuses on music-related Tv and film content. They soon began developing “Crystal Planet” with noted producer/director Brendon Small, and as of early 2018 the show is being shopped to various studios.

Ned’s new 2018 band line-up is called Ned Evett & Triple Double, and combines his love of rock music and film. Featuring bassist Rich Aguirre and drummer Aaron Atkins, “The First Band in Space” is developing a TV series for the Patreon Creator Network scheduled for release in fall 2018.

Ned lives in Galveston, Texas.

Exclusive Interview with Ned Evett

1) What are you working on now?

I am working on two TV projects that are based around rock music, "First Band in Space" with my band Triple Double, and "Crystal Planet" with Joe Satriani and Brendon Small. For Crystal Planet we are working with Heavy Metal Magazine on a excerpt from season one in an upcoming issue.

2) What is your musical background and influences?

I started pioneering with the fretless guitar back in 1990 or so, and developed a style all my own using mirrored glass fingerboards. I won the 2003 North American Guitar Competition, and have been on tour with some of the greatest names in guitar including Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, and George Thorogood.

3) What is the role of education in music?

We live in the era of the Rock School industry, where young kids can learn how to play Rock and Roll and keep the art form alive. It is important to teach kids contemporary styles alongside traditional musical knowledge in my opinion. I also feel Hip-Hop and Rap are crucial art forms to be celebrated in the educational arena.

4) How do you feel about the current ‘state of the music industry’?

The concert industry is strong and diverse, competitive in the extreme of course which just makes you better. The record industry's net worth has been reduced to a fraction of it's former self, and therefore has less resources to nurture truly exceptional talent. That being said, you never know what's around the corner.

5) Why do you play Mooer pedals?

I like working within one suite of products, and Mooer custom effects give me everything I'd ever need for sounds plus intense quality and brilliant tiny little pedals that travel well.
