Our first batch has arrived and all 5 have the NOS LM308 chip + the optional battery clip!

The Hyrax is Expandora’s take on the “vermin” style distortion, but with the added circuit tweaks and tone shaping tools that you have come to expect from Expandora Pedals!

Pumping through the Hyrax’s heart is a fire breathing Op Amp. We use a variety of vintage and modern op amps in the Hyrax. The production versions use either the venerable OP07, or the off-beat NE5534, for max punch and crunch. Limited runs include selections from our vintage op amp vault, including various LM308 options, Soviet-era LM308 clones, and other tasty vintage morsels.

Along with the Level, Tone and Gain controls, the Hyrax has a few added goodies!

The 3-way “Juice” switch alters the gain structure between Mild, Vintage and Wild!

The “Shape” rotary switch selects the clipping options: Smooth (Ge), Hard (Sil), Hairy (LED), and Thick (Mosfet).

Unlike most dirt pedals that require you to max out the knobs to get a decent tone, the Hyrax Distortion’s knobs are very useful throughout their entire range.

This pedal is also very effective when rolling off your guitar’s volume knob.Set the Hyrax Distortion to your perfect gain tone, and ride the volume knob for max flexibility while playing!
